PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size by projecting the forward end of a base plate farther to the recording medium side than a jet port and providing means for heating the base plate thereby utilizing heat effectively and fixing ink with low power. SOLUTION: The forward end face 24a of a base plate 24 is projected farther to the recording sheet side than a jet port plate 36. A first board 28 placed on the base plate 24 is provided, at a position corresponding to an ink channel 31, with an electrothermal converter, i.e., a jet pressure generating part 29 and the heat generated therefrom is also transmitted to the first board 28 and to the base plate 24 thus elevating the temperature thereof. Consequently, the forward end face 24a of a base plate 24 heats up the recording sheet immediately before an ink droplet jetted from a jet port 36a reaches the forward end face 24a. Consequently, the solvent in an ink droplet jetted onto the recording sheet is evaporated quickly and the ink is fixed in a short time. Furthermore, the base plate is heated efficiently as compared with a case where it is heated from the rear side of the recording medium and since thermal loss is low, power consumption can be reduced. |
