PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet for preventing deterioration of an image after washing with excellent transferability to a material to be trans ferred by forming a clear image in the case of printing out in any of an OHP mode or paper mode by a thermal transfer printer. SOLUTION: A coating layer of polyethylene emulsion having a tensile strength of 150 kg/cm<2> or more with releasability and protective film formability and a thermal transfer layer made of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having a Vicat softening point of 45 deg.C or lower and wax having a melting point of 80 to 130 deg.C and a melt starting temperature of 40 to 70 deg.C are sequentially laminated on one surface of a base material film.
