<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the profile of a steel strip with high accuracy by a method wherein the eccentric component of a backup roll is frequency-analyzed and measured and a frequency at the eccentric frequency or higher of the backup roll is removed by using a low-pass filter. SOLUTION: A profile computing and processing apparatus 8 is constituted of a frequency analyzer and of a low-pass filter. When profile measured data A which is composed of a sheet-thickness derivation signal from every sheet thickness gage at a profile gage 2 is input, a sheet-thickness change component which is caused mainly by the eccentricity of a backup roll is frequency- analyzed and found by using the speed of rotation of the backup roll by a speed-of-rotation gage 9 and by using the diameter of the backup roll. Then, a frequency component band which contains the frequency of the eccentricity of the backup roll and which is higher than it is removed by the low-pass filter, and corrected profile measured data which is composed of a corrected sheet- thickness deviation signal it output. Then, a sheet-thickness deviation distribution in the width direction is found by an operator on the basis of measured data by every sheet-thickness gage, and the measured value of the profile of the steel strip is obtained.</p> |
