A flow-dividing valve comprises a hollow ported piston 28 acted on by a spring 32 and slidable within a ported sleeve 14 to control flow from an inlet to a priority circuit communicating with port 24 and an excess flow circuit communicating with port 22. At flows below a first predetermined value, all the fluid flows to port 24 via orifices 36, 40 and ports 50, 54a. At flows above the first predetermined value but below a second predetermined value, the pressure drop across orifice 40 moves the piston to the right to allow the additional fluid to flow to the excess port 22 via ports 44, 52, the flow to port 24 thereby remaining constant at the first value. When the flow reaches the second predetermined value, the pressure drop across orifice 36 moves the piston further to the right and increases the capacity of the primary circuit by opening a by-pass passage consisting of ports 44, 48 and chamber 47. At this stage all the fluid passes to port 24 via ports 50, 54b. At flows above the second value, the piston is moved further to the right to allow the additional fluid to flow to port 22 via the left-hand end of the piston, the flow to port 24 thereby remaining constant at the second value.</p> |
