An extruded free-machining article comprises an alloy consisting of:- the balance, apart from incidental impurities, being copper. In examples the alloy billet is homogenized at 1350 DEG F., extruded at 1300 DEG -1450 DEG F. with pressures of 45,000 to 200,000 p.s.i., solution treated at 1450 DEG F., water quenched, drawn 37% and aged at 600 DEG F.
