PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nonwoven fabric having low surface friction resistance and excellent feeling, filtering performance and surface durability and useful as a base for artificial leather, etc., by forming a laminate in such a manner as to form the surface with a fiber web containing a physically splittable fiber and treating the laminate under specific condition. SOLUTION: Two or more fiber webs consisting of a fiber web composed mainly of an elimination-type splittable fiber and a fiber web composed of a physically splittable fiber are laminated one upon another in such a manner as to form a surface with the fiber web containing the physically splittable fiber. The laminated fiber web is subjected to a fluid flow treatment to effect the splitting of the physically splittable fiber to produce ultrafine fibers B which are entangled with each other to form an interlocked fiber web. One or more resin components X, Y of the elimination-type splittable fiber are removed to produce ultrafine fibers A and form an entangled fiber web, which is again subjected to fluid flow treatment to obtain the objective nonwoven fabric. |
