PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an activated carbon adsorbent capable of almost completely and efficiently adsorbing and removing trace metals, especially mercury, in a hydrocarbon oil. SOLUTION: An aggregate of the activated carbon particles having 0.8-1.3 mm average grain size, and in which >=95% particles based on total wt. of the aggregate have less than 1.7 mm grain size, preferably <=5% particles based on total wt. of the aggregate have >=1.7 mm grain size, <=5% particles have less than 0.5 mm grain size, more preferably 10-25% particles have less than 0.8 mm grain size, 60-80% particles have >=0.8 mm grain size and less than 1.4 mm grain size, and 5-15% particles have >=1.4 mm grain size and less than 1.7 mm grain size, is used as the adsorbing agent for the trace metal in the petroleum hydrocarbon oil. |
