Self-supporting beam with improved metal girder for constructing hollow block flooring

The beam (1) is made of poured concrete (4) and has a U-shaped girder (3) which serves as shuttering and reinforcement for the concrete. A metal grid which acts as reinforcement (5) is soldered to the girder and extends above it. The base (6) of the girder has a number of ridges (7, 8) which improve the rigidity of the girder and make it easier to position the metal grid. The metal grid has two lower bars (11) and an upper bar (12). Each of the lower bars is soldered to the upper bar by a grid. The base of the grid is positioned lower than the lower bar. The lower bar rests against the sloped edge (14) of one of the ridges.
