PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting a data detection area which prevents a substantial identification information from reducing. SOLUTION: This method for selecting a data detection area acquires data of plural different types of objects, divides acquired data and selects the prescribed number of areas that are effective for identification in each divided data. It calculates availability in entire areas, makes the area that has the highest availability a reference area and also makes an optional area except the reference area a remarked area. Next, the correlation coefficient between the reference area and the remarked area is calculated in each type, and a function value that monotonically reduces to the availability of the reference area, monotonically increases to the availability of the remarked area and also monotonically reduces to the correlation coefficient is calculated, a function value is calculated to the entire areas that are already selected and the total sum is found. Further, the total sum is calculated over all the types of objects, all the areas except the reference area are calculated, and the area which has the largest value of the total sum is selected as an effective data detection area. |
