PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the processing time for an individual recognition process. SOLUTION: This individual recognition device 100 distributes the image of a subject taken by a camera 10 to a face recognition part 30 and an iris recognition part 40 by means of a camera output distributing part 20. A face preprocessing part 31 extracts the contour of the head from the image, a face feature extracting part 32 calculates the ratio of the length to width of the contour of the head, and according to the ratio a face feature checking part 33 performs large-scale classification of users registered on a face feature dictionary 34 and delivers the result to the iris recognition part 40. An iris preprocessing part 41 cuts the iris out of the image, an iris feature extracting part 42 extracts an iris pattern, and an iris feature checking part 43 checks the iris pattern with only the iris pattern of the user subjected to large-scale classification. |
