PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need of enlarging a through-hole or a notch to be formed on a cover, and improve the appearance of the cover by disengaging displacement gearing teeth from stationary gearing teeth in the condition where at least the first to the third shafts are positioned along a straight line. SOLUTION: The first and the second connecting members 25 and 27 jointed to each other restrict each size of length, so that displacement gearing teeth formed on the upper surf ace of the front end of an engagement member 14 and stationary gearing teeth 17 on the lower surface of an engagement member 16 fixed to the bottom of a support bracket 5 are completely disengaged from each other in the condition where at least the first to the third shafts 24, 26 and 29 are arrayed along a straight line. Also, the front end of the third connecting member 30 as one end thereof is supported on the third shaft 29. According to this construction, a large through-hole or a notch does not need to be formed on a cover to conceal the support bracket 5 and a rear steering column 4 for good appearance, thereby improving the appearance of the cover itself. |
