The invention concerns a method for densifying a porous structure using an original precursor. Said precursor is an aromatic compound of either one of formulae (I) and (II): in which: n = 1, 2, 3 or 4; m = 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4; R represents, independently, a halogen, preferably chlorine, or an alkyl group selected among the methyl, ethyl, n-propyl or i-propyl groups or it consists in mixing at least two of said compounds of one and/or the other said formulae (I) and (II). Advantageously, said precursor is toluene or chlorobenzene.
