A singulator for transporting and separating tires having a disk (1) with inverted cone shaped front surface at an angle ( alpha ). A plurality of flights (2) each extends outwardly from a side of a center hub to the disk for dividing the disk's surface into sections. The disk is rotated at a rear ward angle ( DELTA ) such that the disk's front surface is at an angle ( epsilon = DELTA - alpha ). A chute (3) is provided in a hopper (4) for transporting tires to a bottom area (4a) of the hopper such that a tire in the bottom area will stand upon its treads.
