The removable operating control comprises a knob with a truncated pyramid section with at least 3 external surfaces (2) fitting into a correspondingly shaped recess in the radio. The operating control has a central contact (3) and a number of further contacts in its end face enclosed by the pyramid external surfaces. These cooperate with corresponding contacts of the radio.
