PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound excellent in biodegradability and in metal-making ability and useful as an additive for photographic treatments. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [R<1> , R<2> are each H, an alkyl, an aryl, a heterogeneous ring, carboxyl, etc.; R<3> is a (substituted) alkyl, an aryl or a heterogeneous ring; W is a divalent carbon atom-containing linkage group; (m), (n) are each 1-3; M<1> -M<3> are each H or a cation]. For example, a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained e.g. by protecting the amino group of a compound of the formula: X<1> -W-NH2 , reacting the protected compound with a compound of formula III, removing the protecting group from the obtained compound, and subsequently reacting the obtained product with a compound of formula IV. Therein, X<1> and X<2> are each a releasable group such as a halogen or a sulfonate group.
