PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase light emission efficiency and improve yield by connecting a transparent electrode with a bus electrode by a connecting part, making the transparent electrode have a slit in parallel with a discharge gap between the surface discharge gap and the bus electrode, and forming the connecting part to be thinner than the transparent electrode. SOLUTION: A metallic bus electrode 3 is formed on a transparent electrode 2 provided in a front side substrate 1, the transparent electrode 2 and the bus electrode 3 are connected with each other by a small width connecting part provided in the lower layer of an insulating layer 11 and, between the transparent electrode 2 and the bus electrode 3, a slit 12 is provided to be in parallel with a discharge gap 10. Since the transparent electrode 2 and the bus electrode 3 are connected with each other in the lower part of the insulating layer 11, discharge expanded from the discharge gap 10 to the bus electrode 3 on the transparent electrode 2 is adjusted to be produced only on the transparent electrode 2 without making any unnecessary re-connection between ions and electrons. Thus, the occurrence of a discharge loss is suppressed, light emission efficiency is increased by 20 to 40% and highly precise patterning and high yield are provided. |
