PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain printing performance well by preventing a control electrode from being damaged through contact to the outside. SOLUTION: There is provided a head cover 33 which interlocks with a rotary operation of an openable and closable frame 17 axially supported to an apparatus body. When the frame 17 is opened, the head cover 33 protects a surface of a control electrode 26. On the other hand, when the frame 17 is closed, the head cover 33 shifts in association with the rotary operation of the frame 17 to let toners held by a toner-holding body 22 fly to an opposite electrode via the control electrode 26. When the frame 17 is opened, for example, to handle jamming, exchange toner cartridges, carry out various inspections to solve a printing failure, or attach or detach a unit including the control electrode 26 to the apparatus, etc., the exposed control electrode 26 is prevented from being in direct touch with an operator's finger or other components, etc.
