The method involves transporting a carrier (A) between an eject position outside a recorder housing fixed at a vehicle, and a recording position inside the housing (1). Vehicle operating data is recorded at a place corresponding to the actual time, on a recording sheet placed on the carrier. The place on the recording sheet at which the data was recorded is further moved, corresponding to the actual time. A clock indicating the actual time is driven by a recording drive source, which also further moves the place, at which the vehicle operation data was recorded, according to the actual time. The clock time indicated by the clock is corrected using a switch. This correction is only then facilitated, if the holder charged with the recording sheet is in the recording position.
