Mouldings are coated in that they are impregnated with, cast into or coated with polyester resin compounds or solutions which are substantially free from monomers unsatured by acryl, allyl or vinyl bonds and which contain unsaturated polyesters. If required, the solvent is then removed, and the polyester resin coating is thermally and/or photochemically hardened. The mouldings are preferably electronic or electrotechnical components or substrate materials for electric insulators.
