The connector consists of a frame component (13) with a frame to form a leakproof seal between the connector and a fuel cell. It also has a contact component (14) made of electrically conductive material to provide the electrical contact between two fuel cells. The contact component can have a structure designed to distribute oxidation agents or fuel in the cathode or anode compartments. This can be achieved by designing the contact component with a two sided comb structure. The frame component can be provided with recesses which form the anode and/or the cathode compartments
