FLOW CONTROL METHOD AND COMMUNICATION NETWORK HAVING FLOW CONTROL FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the line efficiency by controlling an increase in a transmission speed within a permissible range till a cell storage is eliminated without revision of the hardware configuration in the case of ATM virtual channel changeover processing. SOLUTION: A buffer terminal equipment 25 having an input buffer 26 and a cell transmission module 29 is connected to a cell switch 20, at the start of ATM virtual channel changeover processing, a switch 20 is switched to transfer an input cell to the terminal equipment 25 and cells are stored by the terminal equipment 25. In order to avoid remaining of cells after the changeover of a transmission line, a transmission speed is decided based on a band available state of an output transmission line and the terminal equipment 25 sends the cells at its transmission speed.
