The seat comprises a module (1) with interconnected seat and back segments (2,3), armrests (5), headrests (6) and upholstery layers (14). The seat module consists of two or more reinforced hollow profiled sections running parallel to the seat front edge. Recesses (15) are provided in the region of the seat and back segments to accommodate spring elements. The seat module is supported only on one of the two side ends, and the open end sides of the module are covered.
