The straps (3,4) are made of woven plastic material, e.g. carbon fibres. Two connecting devices (5) are used, one fitted in the central part of the strap and the second at an outer end of the strap. The girth has one strap (3) located on top of the other (4) and each connecting device is formed by a rectangular connecting piece of stiff material, e.g. leather, plastic or carbon fibres, which is fixed loop-fashion to a side of the first strap facing the second strap. The second strap extends through the loop. The connecting devices can be formed by a hook and loop type strip. One side of the first strap is provided with a soft layer (6) e.g. foam, gel or small air cushions.
