A system and method for mixing and embedding an audio signal and a control signa l in a storage medium and then extracting and separating the signals by filter means su ch as for an electrically actuated device. The separated audio signal is directed to a speake r and the control signal having frequency significantly different from that of the audio signal an d preferably lower than the audio signal is directed to the electrically-actuated device such as a motor arranged for mechanically moving parts of an actuated character. The system and method can si mulate music or speaking sounds which are closely synchronized with natural movements of the activated character such as a doll or figurine.
