1,238,248. Moulding plastic substances. UNILEVER Ltd. 10 April, 1969 [12 April, 1968], No. 18436/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division C5] Stamped soap bars are prepared from discrete, optionally multi-coloured, particles of soap, by employing particles of soap intimately mixed with a plasticizing agent, the amount of plasticizing agent being between 4 and 30% by weight of the finished bar and being sufficient to improve the strength and fracture resistance properties of the finished bar, the particles being subjected to sufficient pressure in a mould for a sufficient period of time to cause them to form an integral bar. Specified plasticizers are C 8 -C 20 fatty acids, C 8 -C 20 fatty alcohols, esters of fatty alcohols and fatty acids containing C 12 to C 20 in total, ethoxylated fatty alcohols having C 8 to C 20 in alcohol moiety and 8 to 18 ethylene oxide units, wool grease (lanolin and lanolin derivatives), mineral oil, petroleum jelly, amides of C 8 -C 20 fatty acids with C 1 to C 3 alkanol or alkylamines or di (C 1 -C 3 alkanol or alkyl) amines, alkylene glycols having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and triethanolamine soaps. Up to 25%, and usually 5 to 15%, of water may be present. Blends of multicoloured particles are obtained from batches of different coloured soaps similar in composition but differing in colour and prepared according to the invention. |
