摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ocular lens material having excellent surface wettability and transparency, a high refractive index and relatively high hardness and excellent resistance to contamination with lipid by constituting this material of a polymer obtd. by polymerizing a polymn. component contg. a specific monomer. SOLUTION: The ocular lens material consisting of the polymer obtd. by polymerizing the polymn. component contg. the monomer expressed by formula I is used. In the formula, R<1> denotes the group expressed by II or the group expressed by formula II. In the formula R2 denotes 1 to 5C alkylene group; R<3> denotes a hydrogen atom or methyl group. In the formula III, R<4> denotes a direct bond or 1 to 5C alkylene group. This monomer is the component which is capable of imparting the surface wettability to the ocular lens material and yielding the ocular lens material which maintains the high refractive index and the relatively high hardness and has the excellent transparency.
