PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain transmission of audio data and image data simply at the same time by discriminating whether or not an opposite party is capable of receiving image data and transmitting a packet of still image data to be transmitted to an analog telephone line depending on the discrimination result when the opposite party is capable of reception. SOLUTION: A control code denoting capability of image data reception is stored in a memory 38A of a modem 38 in an information transmitter that has means or the like which receives still image data, applying packet processing to the data and applying time division multiplex processing to the packet. When the user uses a telephone set 1 to make dialing to a destination and a line is connected, the modem 38 makes negotiation with a modem of the destination. In the case that the destination has an information transmitter equal to that shown in figure, since a control code denoting the capability of image data reception is stored in a memory of the modem of the destination, the modem of the destination sends a packet including the control code to a sender. The sender side decodes it and recognizes the possibility of image transmission. |
