In a process to de-water sludge prior to disposal, the novelty is that: (a) the sludge is placed in a container which is e.g. a one-trip perforated bag, or a rigid filter medium such as a gauze-walled container or perforated sheet metal box, and (b) the bag, container or box is subjected to oscillations produced by a vibrator.
