The airbag module has a construction group (1) to receive the gas generator, and an airbag. There is a moulding (3) between the construction group and the airbag (5), extending in the unfolding direction of the airbag. There may be another or alternative moulding which can be deformed by the unfolding of the airbag, to which the airbag is attached flat or along several lines. The airbag may be sewn, welded or glued to the moulding, or two or more of these methods may be combined.
