An electrical connector comprises a plug connector 1, Fig. 1 for attachment to a printed circuit board 25 and a mating socket connector 30 Fig. 2. Contact blades 3 are inserted in the insulating, plug having 2 in guide grooves (19, Fig. 3, not shown) formed in adjacent ribs 4 and are held in place by locking springs 12 and are prevented from twisting by widened parts 15 in grooves 18. Contact springs 29 are similarly held in socket housing 27 by locking springs 35, and by engagement of shoulders 36 on the springs with shoulders 39 on the housing. A partition wall 31 in housing 27 fits into chamber 21 in housing 2, which is polarized by an offset web 23 which fits in slot 32 in wall 31. Guides 5 are provided at each end of housing 2 and fit into slots 33. The printed circuit board 25 is attached to the housing 2 by rivets 26 and the terminals 13 are soldered to the printed circuit leads. In a further embodiment (Figs. 6, 7, not shown) portions (53) between contact blades (46) and terminals (52) are twisted through 90 degrees, and there are three rows of contacts. |
