BIDIRECTIONAL OPTICAL MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide constitution which reduces precise positioning places, facilitates the assembly and reduces the size in a bidirectional optical module for transmitting light signals in two directions by using one optical fiber. SOLUTION: One optical fiber 1 is provided with an oblique cut groove 2, and a half-mirror 3 is inserted into the cut groove 2 to assemble an optical branch part mechanically; and light 16 emitted by a semiconductor light emitting element 11 is reflected by the specular slanting surface 10 in a hollow 9 formed in a semiconductor substrate 8 and projected at right angles to the semiconductor substrate 8, and a semiconductor light emitting element 11 and a semiconductor light receiving element 12 are mounted on the same semiconductor substrate 8 in plane. This constitution reduces places where complicated position adjustments are made and then provides the bidirectional optical modules which is easily assembled and miniaturized.
