A light (1) for vehicles is described having an switch (2) and a mounted pivotable window (25) for illumination, which pivoting occasions the operation of the switch (2) which is characterized in that the switch (2) has a contact lever (4) mounted in a pivotable form around a rotation axis (3) with the contact lever (4) having an operation arm (5) which extends in a first direction away from the rotation axis (3) as well as a contact arm (6) which extends in a second direction away from the rotation axis (3) wherein the operation arm (5) has an operation region (7) having a first separation with respect to the rotation axis (3) and the contact arm (6) has a contact region (8) having a second separation with respect to the rotation axis (3) wherein the second separation is greater than the first separation and through a movement directed from the operation arm (5) in the operation region (7) the contact lever (4) pivots around the rotation axis (3) and the contact region (8) moves in such a way that works the switch (2). The window (25) is coupled to the operation region (7). This configuration of illumination is economic and guarantees a reliable switch while simultaneously satisfying due to the limited pivoting of the window the requirements with respect to the appearance. Furthermore, the configuration has a minimum number of plugs/contact pieces and only four plugs/contact pieces are necessary in the conventional vehicle illumination having three switch positions for ON, DC (door contact) and OFF. |
