摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the mechanical strength of a porous ion exchanger obtd. by bonding ion exchange resin particles with a crosslinkable polymer by specifying the crosslinkable polymer content and crosslinking the polymer in the form of a mixture with the ion exchange resin particles. SOLUTION: When ion exchange resin particles are bonded with a crosslinkable polymer to obtain a porous ion exchanger for producing demineralized water by electrodialysis, the amt. of a thermoplastic polymer as the crosslinkable polymer is regulated to 0.5-20wt.% of the amt. of the exchanger and the polymer is crosslinked in the form of a mixture with the ion exchange resin particles. The void volume of open voids in the exchanger is regulated to 5-50vol.%. The resultant porous ion exchanger is used as an ion exchanger in the case where demineralized water is produced by supplying electric current while feeding water to be treated into the demineralization chamber of an electrodialytic apparatus with cation and anion exchange membranes between cathode and anode.
