Consignment stack formation device for sorting plant

The device provides a closed stack of flat consignments received from different sorting compartments (12), with pivoted separation plates inserted between these consignments. The separation plates are spaced in dependence on the detected filling levels of the respective emptied compartments provided by sensors and are used in conjunction with an end plate secured to an underfloor conveyor band to hold the consignments in an upright position.
