<p>Aromatic polycarboxylic acids are recovered from the reaction mixtures resulting from the liquid phase oxidation of polyalkyl aromatics. The reaction mixture is spray-dried to obtain crude solid polycarboxylic acid which in turn is slurried in e.g. water, filtered, and optionally further purified by recrystallization. The process is especially suitable for the recovery of terephthalic and isophthalic acids which are important starting material for the production of polyesters.</p> |
