Novel polyolefin fibers and their fabrics

A new fibre comprises reactor-grade polyolefin, which has been produced by single-site catalysis. Also claimed are (1) a fibre comprising reactor-grade poly-alpha-olefin of melt flow rate (MFR) of 0-5,000 dg/min. and mol. wt. distribution (MWD) of 1-3; (2) fabric comprising fibre comprising reactor-grade isotactic polypropylene produced by single-site catalysis and having MFR of 0-5,000 and MWD of 1-3.5; (3) fibre comprising isotactic poly-alpha-olefin as specified below; (4) the process of producing fibre as specified for fabric (2) and, optionally, non-woven fabric (detailed below); (5) fabric (2) produced by one or more methods and formed as a composite or laminate; (6) fabric comprising the pref. polymer for (5) formed by knitting or weaving; (7) the above fibres produced from molten poly-alpha-olefin with mechanical winding at more than 1,500 m/min. such that its final draw reduction is more than 20.
