Click noise reduction method in a data transmission system

The system uses a receiver with a decoder which delivers data samples. A system for detecting silences in the received data is incorporated in the receiver. Parasitic samples due to transmission errors are detected within the silent periods. A processor is activated for at least some of the parasitic samples. The parasitic sample detector performs comparison of the parasitic samples with a reference value which is calculated for a series of preceding samples and is greater than a given minimal value.
