PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can very naturally correct contrast by preventing unnatural contrast correction in a printer which corrects the gradation of a signal on a television or the like. SOLUTION: A CPU 2 in the printer 1 stores an image picked up by a digital still camera 6, which is inputted through serial I/F, in a data memory 3. The image data are compressed data. When a fixed quantity of image data is inputted, an expansion processing is executed and it is written into a work memory 4. The CPU 2 corrects the contrast of the image data written into the work memory 4 to obtain contrast from which peculiarly dark luminance and bright luminance are eliminated. Image data whose contrast is corrected by the CPU 2 is outputted to a printing memory 5 and a printing processing on recording paper is executed through a printing control circuit and a printed image superior in the contrast is generated. |
