This is prepd. by hydrolysis of UF6 with steam in a rotating bed reactor which contains uranyl fluoride particles. The UF6 is used in such a proportion and state as to prevent the formation of solid uranium fluoride prior to its reaction with the steam. The temp. used is 260-480 degrees C ans a surface reaction takes place on the uranyl fluoride particles to produce uranyl fluoride of const. particle size. |
