Granulation of vitamin A esters is effected by pouring molten vitamin A ester dropwise into a stirred organic liquid at -70 to -10 degrees C in which the ester is only slightly soluble at normal temperatures and whose density is lower than that of the ester, then separating the granules and drying them. The granules are easily formed without any variations due to chemical or mechanical influences, they are used in stable pharmaceutical formulations. Applicable to the acetate and palmitate of vitamin A. Solvents used are pref. alkanols (1-4C) and petroleum fractions b.p. 150 to 180 degrees C. Methanol is preferred.
|
