<p>Title polymers are prepared by reacting (a) a prepolymer, free from olefinic unsaturation and containing isocyanate groups, with (b) a "thiohydrin" which has 3 C atoms between the thiol group and the hydroxyl group, such as a mono- or di-hydroxymonothiol, a monohydroxydithiol and/or a hydroxy-ester which contains thiol groups. The polyurethanes are stable towards bases; they do not liberate gas in the presence of moisture. They can be hardened by oxidising agents, such as lead oxide, giving polysulphides, or can be copolymerised with (poly)epoxides, phenol resins, unsaturated polyesters, polybutadiene or polyvinyl sulphones or ethers.</p> |
