The system has a primary pump (4) delivering brake fluid from a reservoir (7) to a fluid pressure control valve, and an auxiliary pump (8) delivering fluid to the suction side of the primary pump. A normally closed inner side gate valve is located in an auxiliary suction circuit. A bypass circuit (11) is located parallel to the auxiliary pump and includes a circulation solenoid valve. After termination of stabilising control a control unit opens the outer side gate valve and closes the inner side gate valve, and the circulation solenoid valve is opened for a predetermined time span.
