PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject improving agent excellent suppressing activity on a spontaneously generated swelling and weight reducing activity, and manifesting the effectiveness either by an oral use or by an external use on a skin, by making the agent containingα-glycosylated rutin as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This swelling improving agent containα-glycosylated rutin e.g. expressed by the formula (at least one of R<1> to R<6> is a monosaccharide or an oligo saccharide residue and the rests are H) as an active ingredient. Further, in order to obtain the above rutin, e.g. preferably a glycosyl residue transferease such as a glycosidase is effected on a composition obtained by adding a partially hydrolyzed starch as a saccharide donating material to the rutin, and in the case of oral administration, 0.01-10g as theα-glycosylated rutin for an adult daily and in the case of external agent of the skin, 0.01-10wt.% were preferably blended.
