The invention concerns a system for reading at least one information posted in an electronic component (11) memory (113), said electronic component being capable of communicating with a terminal and, in particular, of transmitting a message (MRI),called initialisation response message, in response to an initialising signal (SI) sent by said terminal. The invention is characterised in that the reading system comprises: in the electronic component (11), means (111, 114) for searching the information (DATA) in the memory (113) and for posting said information in a zone of initialisation response message (MRI); a housing (20) comprising: means (211) for transmitting said initialising signal (SI) when the electronic component (11) is connected to the housing (20); means (211) for reading the information (DATA) in said zone of initialisation response message (MRI). The invention is applicable to cards with electronic memory.
