Prosthesis for transluminal implantation comprising a flexible tubular member which has a diameter which can be varied by axial movement of the ends of the member with respect to one another, and which member is composed of various separate, strong but flexible wire (thread) elements which each extend in a helical formation with the centre axis of the member as a common axis, wherein a number of first wire elements turn in the same direction and are axially offset from one another, while a number of second wire elements turn in the opposite direction to the first number, which second number are also axially offset with respect to one another, the said member 53 being provided, at at least one of its ends, with a decreasing diameter, so that this member 53 has a filtering function after it has been implanted. <IMAGE> |
