PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for processing a picture by which a desired original picture can be retrieved and extracted at a high speed from a file in which plural original pictures are stored by reading the prescribed area of an inputted original picture, operating character recognition and sorting the original picture according to the recognized result. SOLUTION: An original picture is read and inputted (S21), and when the re-arrangement of the inputted pictures in a page unit is instructed (S24), character recognition is operated based on the image of the instructed character recognition objective area (S26). Sort data obtained by changing the sequence of the original pictures are prepared based on this character recognition result (S28 and S29), and stored as data for retrieval. At the time of actual retrieval processing, the original picture data registered as a file are retrieved based on the data for retrieval. |
