A hygiene article for single use e.g. a disposable nappy, comprises a front section (12), a rear section (14) and an intermediate step section (16). The side walls (20,22) of the rear section have closure straps (24,26) which allow the rear section to be connected to the front. The straps have primary mechanical closures and these locate with secondary straps. At least part of the mechanical closure element (32) has an adhesive (38) coating. All closure elements preferably have an adhesive coating.
