The switch has a housing enclosing the switch contacts and a switch operating element (2) which is rotatable relative to the housing and which can be displaced axially against a spring force between a number of switch positions. The switch operating element cooperates with a mechanical function element (10) for operation of a movable switch contact (3) via a helical control surface (14) and a pin (15) formed integral with the switch contact. A second control surface (31) is provided by the operating element, concentric to the housing longitudinal axis, for direct operation of a second switch contact (4).
