PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording medium which can absorb well nonaqueous pigment ink and exhibits a good coloring property by fixing a pigment in the ink evenly by providing a carboxylated SBR resin layer where the molar ratio between a polymerization unit based on a styrene and that based on butadiene, on a substrate. SOLUTION: In a recording medium suited to an ink jet recording system using a nonaqueous pigment ink that permits the recording of a hard copy close to a silver salt photograph, a carboxylated SBR resin layer where the mole ratio between a polymerization unit based on styrene and that on butadiene is (5 to 95) to (60 to 40), is formed on a substrate. The carboxylated SBR resin layer is formed by applying a carboxylated SBR resin latex or a mixture of the carboxylated SBR resin latex and silica sol and drying it. Preferably, silica particles contained in the layer is 50wt.% or less, and particularly 30wt.% or less. |
