FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: 2,2,6,6- tetramethylpiperidine derivatives of formula I: <EMI ID=0.209 HE=30 WI=51 TI=CHI> wherein R is hydrogen; R<SB>1</SB> is C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>18</SB>-alkyl, C<SB>5</SB>-C<SB>8</SB> cycloalkenyl; and A<SB>3</SB>-A<SB>5</SB> is -0- or NR<SB>3</SB> in which R<SB>3</SB> is hydrogen, C<SB>2</SB>-C<SB>4</SB>-alkanoyl when (a) n is 1, A<SB>3</SB>-A<SB>5</SB> is NR<SB>3</SB>, A<SB>1</SB> is monovalent residue and hydrogen, C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>18</SB>-alkyl, (b) n is 1 when A<SB>2</SB>-A<SB>4</SB> is hydrogen or A<SB>1</SB> together with A<SB>4</SB> form C<SB>2</SB>-C<SB>8</SB>- alkylene, A<SB>2</SB> is oxygen or CH<SB>2</SB>, A<SB>3</SB>-A<SB>5</SB> is -0- or (c) n is 1, A<SB>3</SB>-A<SB>5</SB> is -0- and A<SB>2</SB> is -0-; then A<SB>1</SB> together with A<SB>4</SB> form <EMI ID=0.210 HE=30 WI=60 TI=CHI> when n is 2, A<SB>5</SB>-A<SB>5</SB> is NR<SB>3</SB>, A<SB>2</SB>-A<SB>4</SB> is hydrogen, then A<SB>1/ </SB> is group of formula: <EMI ID=0.211 HE=27 WI=63 TI=CHI> wherein d is 2-10 or A<SB>1</SB> is group of formula: <EMI ID=0.212 HE=15 WI=24 TI=CHI>; T<SB>8</SB> and T<SB>9</SB> are hydrogen, C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>12</SB>- alkyl or T<SB>8</SB> and T<SB>9</SB> together form trioxapentamethylene. Compounds of formula I are useful as effective stabilizers of various organic materials, more particularly polymers, against light and oxygen.
